Part II: Real Dolls: Why Can't These Men Just Accept Real Women???

My post on The Perfect Woman sparked some major interest and discussion on the topic of inanimate mates. Further research brought forth a documentary entitled Love Me. Love My Doll. It's about male owners of rubber, life-sized dolls: Real Doll, the Ultimate Lovedoll.

If you watch the entire documentary, you learn that these men are afraid of relationships with real women. They are so afraid that they'd rather have a life-long doll companion. You cannot LOVE a doll!!! Okay, maybe you can develop an emotional attachment to one...I guess. But an inanimate object cannot LOVE you back!!!

Give me a break!!! Why not wholeheartedly try a relationship with an actual woman?! Nothing ventured, nothing gained!!! Relationships aren't perfect. They're not meant to be!!! Humans, by nature, are imperfect.

When I watched this documentary, I came to one conclusion. These men are selfish. Yes, they have problems--but we all do. With the availability of the internet, one can surely find a mate with similar interests.

Take Michael, for example (one of the men from the documentary). He found a girlfriend on the internet. They had a lot in common. And each considered themselves open-minded. But in the end, Jody (his girlfriend) just couldn't stay with a man who likes to have sex with dolls. It's creepy and unnatural. And just plain selfish!!!

One of Michael's reasons for "needing" the dolls was that he could have sex with them whenever he wanted; something you can't do with real women. (Speaking to men like Michael:) "Uh, hello!!! Get over yourself!!! I'm sure the woman in your life (if you would ever actually be brave enough to go out and find love) will want something that you can't give her! Should she search elsewhere? Do you honestly think that because your mistresses don't have heartbeats, it's not cheating??? Come on now! The dolls are designed to be your idea of perfect women! How could a real-live woman ever truly compete with that???"

Below, I am posting the first segment of the documentary. You can find the rest on YouTube. (Warning!!! These clips contain some sensitive material that may not be suitable for younger viewers!!!):

What do you think? Are these men perfectly normal, mentally sick, or just plain selfish?

  1. You are not taking every doll owner into consideration before you made an assessment. There are as many reasons for doll ownership as there are fingerprints. The men featured in the documentary represent a TINY fraction of doll owners.

You should do research before you pass judgment.

  2. While I appreciate your feedback, Stacy, I can also say with confidence that your statement regarding reasons as numerous as there are fingerprints was absurd. If you can name me, let's say...a trillion reasons one may be a doll owner, then maybe I could find ONE that is relevant.

(And in response to your "You should do research before you pass judgement" statement)may I remind you of the right to "Freedom of Expression"? I personally find no good reason for anyone to buy or own one (or more) of these dolls. And as an American citizen, I have the right to voice my opinion on my blog.

  3. I've seen the "Real Dolls" video footage many years ago when Howard Stern was on the E! Channel, and he and his co-workers tried the doll. Howard loved the doll so much he gave it it's own chair to sit in the studio with him, lol! ... I ready your new post about "men using the real doll b/c they can't have sex w/ it whenever they want versus w/ a ... Read Morereal woman they can't do that," and I have to agree that women tend to hold back sex or use sex to bargain for things and men who don't wanna deal w/ that go elsewhere. I'm sure women give up things for men, but for those men who choose not to deal with women's limitations, they can seek pleasure elsewhere and that is OK as long as they are honest about it. Now, if a woman doesn't like his terms, she can go elsewhere too.

  4. When you say they "tried" the doll, do you mean they TRIED her on the air? (Some people really need help.)
As for your comment on some women using sex as bargaining tools, that's true. But maybe those women feel as if it's the only power they have. (Then again, they could just be domineering.)
Either way, if a woman is okay with her man having sex with dolls, that's her deal. MOST women, on the other hand, will probably believe that human sex with a human partner should suffice.

  5. Men have their blow up dolls and women have dildos, LoL! And hiring a prostitute can get expensive, and being promiscuous takes a lot of work, and most people like the idea of relationships but not the reality of them... And yes, Howard tried his doll on TV, but took her to the bathroom so no one would see, LoL!

  6. As for what you just said about relationships, that's true. But if you put the appropriate amount of work into them, they pay great dividends. (I'm sure you can attest to that.)...
Oh, so b/c he was in the bathroom that made it better, right? LOL! *siiiigh*

  7. Of course I can attest to the fact that the appropriate amount of effort from a couple can make a relationship work, but the sad truth is that we live in country where relationships and sex are like fast food; people want it when they want it and then toss it to the side when they're full. Just in Manhattan alone there are millions of people, so w/ so many options to choose from, New Yorker's are less likely to settle for anything less then perfection.

  8. Which they can only find in a manufactured doll or the like? This world is going downhill...

  9. You should read Love and Sex with Robots.
If females have vibrators, why not allow men to have their dolls. What about when a gf or wife says she doesn't want to have none? Whats a man to do?
If it happened to a female she would just go into the restroom and use her vibrator. If your really curious, there is also a realdoll for females!!!

  10. So, Jmejia1, you mean to tell me that people don't have control over themselves? A woman wouldn't necessarily go use her vibrator. Maybe she would just do without. Is today's society so warped as to believe that people can no longer take "no" for an answer? Must we go and satisfy ourselves???
And no, I'm not really curious. I'm actually disgusted. If that wasn't previously conveyed enough, I'll say it again: Having sex with a doll is not at all necessary!!!

  11. As someone who owns a doll, I cannot see what all the fuss is about. Unfortunately my wife of 20 years has a medical condition which precludes intercourse but I love her dearly.

Purchase came at her suggestion - she feels guilty we cannot have sex, and frankly we both gain from ownership.

As Stacey stated at the outset, there are many reasons for doll ownership.

  12. I just don't see why or how you would need a doll to fulfill your needs, Anonymous. I understand that you can't have intercourse with your wife but I'm sure you can do other things.

In essence, you're cheating on your wife with an inanimate object. The only thing that makes it different for you is that your wife condones it for some reason. It still doesn't make sense. It's unnecessary.
